Jax Taylor is not holding back with his assessment of Tom Sandoval‘s effect on the lives of those around him!!
The former Vanderpump Rules star and his wife Brittany Cartwright are in the middle of a three-episode stint on Peacock‘s Watch With streaming feature right now. On Thursday, they gave their first night of commentary on Vanderpump Rules, something they’ll continue to do for the next two weeks. During their initial streaming turn on, things were already off to a spicy start as the 43-year-old reality TV alum said something very interesting about his most controversial co-star.

Jax actually referenced Sandoval as a cause of best friend Tom Schwartz‘s divorce from ex-wife Katie Maloney last year. Whoa!! But it’s not quite what you might be thinking… It’s not like the kind of cheating scandal with Raquel Leviss behind now-ex-girlfriend Ariana Madix‘s back… Jax explained:
“I think [Sandoval] had a lot to do with why they got divorced. I would like to think they would still be together if it weren’t for Sandoval.”
Then, he continued:
“As much as Katie drives me nuts, I see her point.”
Brittany seemed to agree, offering up a simple response before moving on:
“Oh, yeah.”
Damn!!
So what gives then?? Is Jax alluding to another Sandoval affair or something?!
Well… not quite. See, Sandoval and Schwartz are really close, and have been for a long time. The two have opened eateries together, like TomTom and Schwartz & Sandy’s. But Sandoval’s strong personality and sometimes-quick temper saw him butting heads with Katie a LOT when she was with Schwartz. And the ensuing dynamic — where Schwartz often hesitated to take his then-wife’s side in arguments — created a lot of problems for the now-former couple.

In a podcast interview from June of last year, Katie alluded to Schwartz’s move to pick Sandoval (and others) over her at the end of their relationship:
“I felt like he was choosing everyone else in the room and in his life before me. I was like, ‘I don’t know that I’m in love anymore.'”
A not-so subtle reference to the TomTom co-owners’ connection, no doubt…
Of course, Schwartz sees things differently. Earlier this month during a Watch What Happens Live appearance, the 40-year-old Bravo star told host Andy Cohen that his ex-wife “demanded unconditional loyalty” far beyond what he deemed normal while they were together. Schwartz explained himself on the late night show:
“She abused [the loyalty] a little bit. She was always getting in tiffs and she’s like, ‘you’re with me or against me.’ She’s way better now. Katie, I love you, but in the beginning, she was kind of a monster. … She has had a falling out with every single person in her life multiple times. And I just didn’t like getting dragged into all that and I guess I became a little numb when she actually did need me. It’s like the boy who cried wolf.”
So is that the dynamic to which Jax referred with his new Watch With comments, then? Did Sandoval push Schwartz’s marriage to a breaking point with the intense demands of their friendship and/or business partnership?!
Just another dramatic dynamic to watch play out on future episodes of VPR as far as we are concerned…
