Joss Whedon Is Getting Sued For Stealing Cabin In The Woods -- Will The Avengers Let This Stand!?

no title
This doesn’t seem like a fight we’d want to pick…
Just two weeks ahead of his Avengers: Age of Ultron premiere, director Joss Whedon is getting sued for stealing the idea for one his other well-known films.

Apparently, an author named Peter Gallagher (not of The O.C. fame) believes that his 2006 self-published novel The Little White Trip: A Night In the Pines was the inspiration behind the writer/director’s acclaimed 2012 horror film The Cabin in The Woods.
Peter is suing Joss and co-writer/director Drew Goddard, as well as Lionsgate and Mutant Enemy, for copyright infringement and is seeking an astounding $10 million in damages.
Since The Avengers raked in $1.5 billion in the box office, we think it’s safe to say that Joss has the money… but we’re not so sure he should have to fork it over.
Peter says his novel is also about a group of friends being attacked in a cabin in the woods only to find out they’ve been spied on by surveillance cameras, and that it also has a shy girl and one that’s more outgoing.

Seems like a stretch to us!
Gallagher also claims that he sold his self-published book on the 3rd Street promenade in Santa Monica, CA — the same city where both Whedon and Goddard live.
Considering all the creative work being sold in the greater Los Angeles area, that seems like an even bigger stretch!
Plus, Joss has a ton of other original works like Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse, Firefly, and Dr. Horrible, so we’re pretty sure he’s capable of coming up with his own stories.
What do U think about this whole lawsuit??
