Ever since audiences fell in love with Rey in The Force Awakens, Star Wars fans have been speculating the origin of Daisy Ridley‘s kick ass character.
Though Rey’s Jedi roots have yet to be explained, fans have been hoping that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will reveal the origin of their the new fan favorite heroine.

In the trailer, Jyn is introduced as a soldier commissioned by the Rebel Alliance to investigate the Empire’s new superweapon and help determine how to stop it.
But according to Ridley, fans might have to go back to the drawing board — because while the 24-year-old didn’t technically deny that Erso could be the bloodline of Rey, she doesn’t think fans should jump the gun just based on the actress’ similar appearances!
Speaking to MTV, she said:

“I’m not being funny you guys, but just because she’s white and got brown hair├óΓé¼┬ª it doesn’t mean she’s my mom.”

It doesn’t mean she’s not your mom either, girl!

Though the British beauty might just be playing coy to avoid spoilers for the franchise, she made a point to say that Rey’s origin isn’t even that important in the grand scheme of the story! She continued:

“I think the amazing thing about [Episode VII] is that Finn and Rey don’t come from anywhere, and they find a place, So to me, it’s funny that people think it’s so important, because I don’t really think it is.”

Spoken like a true Jedi!
Do YOU think that Rey’s origin will be revealed in Rogue One?
