The Hills East Coast???
Filed under: Reality TelevisionWord on the street is that MTV is said to be testing out the waters and developing a Hills-like "reality" show based in Washington, D.C.
Goodbye Hollywood - hello politics!

nyc is sooooooooooooooo not as interesting as dc.
nyc is gossip girl, new york housewives… blah blah boring boring
dc? nothing like it on television
DC is SO lame!!! Should be in NYC!!!!!!
Wait a minute…there are no "Hills" in Washington DC! Duh.
That show is destined to fail.
Ever heard of Capitol Hill? Idiot.
Katherine Kennedy is a larger than life bombshell who will become famous, whether it's through this show or some other avenue. She has the star quality.
ew, who would ever watch that???
That even MTV realizes what subset of people are cool/fun in DC. Thankfully the show will not take place at Poets and Busboys because we all know how interesting following a bunch of indie people reading poetry and drinking a latte would be. As far as half of these comments are concerned, I'm really glad to see that the internet brings out intelligence amongst the masses. Idiots.
Hardly Reality, The Stupid Thing Is Scripted!!
Devastation Set In When I Found Out, The Show Lost All Juicy-ness And Appeal!!
The true star of the show is Sophie Pyle. Katherine Kennedy pales in comparison.
KK, I really hope you're paying your PR team overtime. They deserve it.
it will probably be in potomac maryland ten minutes from DC…..i live their and its the second richest zip code under 90210 its basically like beverlyhills w/o any cameraes although my nieghbor sold her house to brad pitt and angilina joe lee
Booo that idea sucks!
I continue to be dumbfounded by these posts indicating that the show will be based on a DC suburb. Not sure if you're from DC or not, but no one in their 20's who would be of any interest to television viewers lives in Montgomery County or Fairfax County. (Valerio lives in Prince George's county). If it ends up on the air, it will be in DC, that much is clear.
I am an LA native and I have been linving in the DC area for 6 months now and the nightlife here doesn't even come CLOSE to LA nightlife. With new nightclubs opening every weekend in LA and a banging electro/hipster scene how can you compare?
or perhaps this new series will focus on the professional aspects of the charaters…
thoughts??? hmmm….GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY..
To Paulina — I think you're overestimating the portion of the U.S. population that's interested in watching a bunch of hipsters sit around talking about how much they hate their daddies as they eat ecstasy pills. Shows like the Real World weren't popular because the characters were film school rejects wearing thick-rimmed dark glasses. It was popular because at least 75% of the characters each season were batshit crazy and created endless drama on a weekly basis. I'm sure these 4 girls are capable of pulling off something similar.
Noooooooo!!! I love The Hills, but hate this idea!
nahh aye it'll suck.
i love the hills aye nothing will replace that haha.
but i guess it would be good for girls that wanna grow up to be rich and smart?
if they exist haha jks.
Otis Ofori = The new Spencer?
It's true…I'm from DC and they're taping a show..I've seen it filming and got emails about casting for it..called no joke "the Hill". It's basically following people that are part of the uppity/republican community in DC and in no way reflect what most people are like in really like in DC.. In fact most of these people are actually from Northern VA and are sprouted from this horrible anti everything but white rich republicans social networking website called LateNite Shots..
I live here in DC, and well . . . . we're not all that exciting . . . . converstations are more often about politics that who's-dating-whom, so I don't think it would have broad appeal.
The show has nothing to do with politics. The four girls are much more into the charity-driven Georgetown social scene. The sisters work at upscale boutiques in Georgetown, the blonde KK runs an incredibly vapid blog and thinks she's god's gift, and the brunette is a 20 year old soon to be senior at a school in the South, but is also a DC native. I can tell you for sure that it will not be named "The Hill," since none of the four girls live anywhere near there and certainly wouldn't deign to go out in that area. Unfortunately, the staple bars of the Georgetown scene won't let them film, so apparently they are picking a few bars/lounges downtown and trying to "make them cool." Blech. My friends and I are friendly with the girls picked, but we have no interest in being featured on this show.
The 4 girls casted are the creme de le creme of DC. They have Hollywood looks, NYC ambition and old money Washington DC breeding. If MTV signs this I'll be very impressed. Thought they had long since taken their hand off the pulse of what was hot with Generation Y.
im from dc…i saw the ad on dcist.com for dc area people age 21-29 to apply…kind of crazy! i will watch to see my hood…but thats it
love it!Im from DC and we have just as many over privileged rich kids as LA.
i go to dc once a month (more specifically, potomac md which is about twenty minutes away) and trust me, theres more than enough dramz for a DC/Hills type deal..
washington dc?
NO WAY. it's boring as hell.
Wilmington NC would be way better. It's where i've heard TV shows like one tree hill, and other movies are filmed. and it's an arsty college beach town!
Uhmmm… Beverly Hills 90210's concept was based on a suburb of DC — Potomac, MD … don't think it would have been as catchy a title tho
no comparison. the dc twenty-somethings social machine is unlike anything in america. generations of interns, political wannabees and rich constituents' kids have cycled through the bars, clubs and late night haunts of Georgetown for decades, occasionally organizing themselves by daylight into
fundraising dinner parties, formal dances and steeplechase picnics. you can't buy your way in with mom and dad's money. it takes brains, social confidence
and a thick skin. mind over muscle. connections have a higher value than designer labels. influence and power are turn-ons. those who stay are the ones who have learned how the game is played. it's not a scene for meek or shallow minds… that group settles for mundane places like L.A.
this show would be pretty cool, LA has been done too many times already, NY has been done too many time already…time to bring something to DC haha mtv has already done stuff in LA and NY too many times, its about time
another thing to think about…D.C. area has some of the most richest counties surrounding it so i'm pretty sure their a lot richer than the average person from ny or la

90210 was based on high school kids, who live in the suburbs. No 20-somethings other than complete nerds live outside of the district.
i live in d.c… i wanna be on it!
seeing as casting is going on through latenightshots.com the show will probably suck. everyone on there is ridiculous. if they wanted a real show they should of cast my freinds - at least then it would of been fun and interesting unlike the khaki, pastel and madras clad gtown idiots who congregate on that site. and people stop defending gtown - i live there and yes it is full of preppy khaki wearing pricks - its true.

No matter how much you hate your father, you'll eventually realize that at a certain point most people start dressing like grownups. If a few of these normal people end up on a reality television show, the disenfranchisement among viewers will likely be limited to you and your fellow 9-11 conspiracy theorists.
Re: kk fan –
"I wanna be like KK" why would you ever want to have a disease that is killing you, that you also happen to exploit on your own blog for your benefit. Why would you want to have an orange spray tan and unflattering cankles plus white pumps, really. Why would you want to pose in the same position over and over again and why most of all would you want to be a habitual liar. Actually this probably makes for a perfect reality show, but it will be the Hills x2, she is from California for christ sakes. Someone mentioned that they were hoping for diversity? 3 of the 4 cast members are all bottled blondes. I hope this gets on MTV so thier lives can be ruined. This will be a terrible depiction of DC.
kkill, you sure do have a lot against her. What is your problem?
Most people in DC with any sort of brain and independent thought who've encountered Miss Kennedy are not impressed. She's shallow, vapid, materialistic, and is overly impressed with herself. She only hangs out with people who will be subservient to her or bring her some sort of value socially. She is claims to be a girl who plays hard to get, yet every guy I know who has gone out with her has nailed her on the first date. She's just about the fakest person I've ever met, so I'm sure she'll make a great reality TV whore.

To all those KK haters clearly, jealousy is a bitch. KK doesn't keep that many people close and people in general are anit-KK b/c of jealousy. So it's sad that your statement are not backed by the truth. Have a nice life and remember Karma is a BITCH!
All of the girls are super nice so its sad that people are writing all this about them but I guess that is what you sign up for when you do shows like this. I do think jealousy is the main motive for these comments.
the hills in hollywood will still be better
