The show hasn't even been over for a week and that sneaky smoke monster has struck again! He'll never stop causing trouble, will he??
Despite how emotionally sucker-punched satisfied we were with the conclusion of Lost, it certainly cannot be denied that the producers left a mountain of questions unanswered!
Message boards are running rampant with possible theories and explanations, including one sparked by the post-show, stock footage of the original plane wreckage alone on an empty beach that played over the credits. Many assumed that it was one final twist - that the characters had all died in the crash and the entire series was an additional part of their journey through purgatory!
However, we're happy to inform you that we can officially nix that theory for you Losties today, as compelling as it might be! We've learned that the network added that footage, not the producers - AKA it's not a part of the story!
A rep for ABC confirms:
”The images shown during the end credits of the Lost finale, which included shots of Oceanic 815 on a deserted beach, were not part of the final story but were a visual aid to allow the viewer to decompress before heading into the news.”
Well there you have it. That's one mystery solved, now only 7,402 to go!
