Talk about a historic trip!
In an unprecedented move, President Barack Obama announced Thursday he will be visiting Havana, Cuba on March 21 in an effort to open up relations between our two countries.
Obama will be the first President to visit Cuba while in office since Calvin Coolidge‘s trip in 1928!

But Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes tells Medium he thinks this trip will be different, saying:
“President Coolidge traveled to Cuba on a U.S. battleship, so this will be a very different kind of visit.”
President Obama announced the important news on Twitter Thursday morning, saying:
14 months ago, I announced that we would begin normalizing relations with Cuba – and we’ve already made significant progress.

Our flag flies over our Embassy in Havana once again. More Americans are traveling to Cuba than at any time in the last 50 years.

We still have differences with the Cuban government that I will raise directly. America will always stand for human rights around the world.

Next month, I’ll travel to Cuba to advance our progress and efforts that can improve the lives of the Cuban people.

The expected trip comes after Obama’s administration restored diplomatic relations last summer, when Secretary of State John Kerry raised the American flag over our embassy after a half-century of enmity.
Michelle Obama will join the President during his trip, where he plans to press President Raul Castro on human rights in hopes of improving the lives of the Cuban people.
What do U think about Obama’s landmark trip??
