Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse have broken up.
The twenty-something Riverdale sweethearts had been dating for nearly three full years ahead of their split “recently,” according to insiders close to the couple who dished to Page Six.

It’s unclear when exactly the pair first split up, but it’s being reported as something that happened in the very recent past. They have since been separately living in quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic, too, from what we understand. According to a source who spoke to the outlet about the split, the pair may have gone their separate ways just before the pandemic first hit back in mid-March.
The insider reported (below):
“Cole and Lili split before the pandemic hit, and have been quarantining separately. They remain good friends.”
OK then!
Of course, the twosome is well known for their on-screen work together as Jughead and Betty on Riverdale; the couple had been affectionately known by the show’s fans as “Bughead” for some time now. The 27-year-old Sprouse and the 23-year-old Reinhart first began dating the same year the show first premiered on The CW all the way back in 2017. They’d previously dodged and denied several persistent breakup rumors ahead of this news, but it looks like today is the real deal.

It’s interesting timing, as the breakup comes just recently after fellow Riverdale actor Skeet Ulrich‘s girlfriend Megan Blake Irwin seemed to hint during a social media video stream that the pair was done for good. Not long ago, Irwin had been doing an Instagram Live video with Ulrich when somebody asked the pair about Cole and Lili.
After Skeet responded with, “I think they were a very cute couple,” Irwin cut in, adding more emphasis over the top to drive the point home:
“They were a very cute couple. They’re both beautiful people.”
Strange. Definitely seemed kind of weird at the time and now, well, here we are…
Of course, as we mentioned up top, this isn’t the first time rumors have dogged this pair. Back in July 2019 Reinhart tweeted that “reliable sources” could “kiss my ass” after reports of a breakup back then hit the airwaves across the entertainment industry. The split obviously wasn’t true then, but it appears to have more teeth now. Lili’s reps ultimately declined to comment on the news while outlets haven’t yet gotten in contact with Sprouse’s people.
Guess we’ll see what the fallout is from this very soon.
