NBA Legend Nate Thurmond Passes Away At 74

The loss of a sports legend — and a direct inspiration to LeBron James.
Nate Thurmond died on Friday after succumbing to a short battle with leukemia. The NBA legend and Hall of Famer was 74 years old.

Thurman set all kinds of NBA records and spent 14 years in the league, 11 of which were in San Francisco with the Golden State Warriors.
He was a seven-time league All-Star, too, and became the first player in league history when, in 1974, he recorded an official quadruple double (double digits in points, rebounds, assists, and blocks).
The Warriors’ team president, Joe Lacob, released a statement following Thurman’s death:

“We’ve lost one of the most iconic figures in the history of not only our organization, but the NBA in general.”

And LeBron himself tweeted a very poignant message about it (below):
