WARNING: Smoked Salmon Blamed For New Salmonella Outbreak!

salonella-salmon-smoked-outbreak
Can we, right now and collectively as a world, decide to stop cutting corners when it comes to food production and make sure everything is safe??
Not wanting to be outdone by the Trader Joe’s nut butter outbreak last week, we’re hearing now that smoked salmon tainted with salmonella has sickened HUNDREDS in the Netherlands!
HUGE recalls are in effect for folks there and the U.S.!
It has all been traced to the Dutch company Foppen, which sells fish to many major Dutch supermarkets and to stores around the world, including the United States.
Officially, about 200 people in the Netherlands and more than 100 people in the United States have fallen ill because of it.
Costco Wholesale Corp., which sold the salmon in the U.S., said it had no reports of illness — apparently the CDC is investigating, but has not officially announced anything yet. The CDC info is available to the world, so when the Netherlands looked into it, they noticed the cases in that database.
Those infected by the salmonella bacteria can suffer symptoms including fever, vomiting and diarrhea.
Even though stuff here in the U.S. has not been verified completely, Costco has removed the fish from their shelves and are also investigating.
Might as well just not eat it if you’ve bought smoked salmon from Foppen/Kirkland brands!
