Well, she didn't win on American Idol, and now she's causing some controversy!
After La'Porsha Renae finished second behind Trent Harmon on the Idol finale this week, despite long being the frontrunner to win the show right up until the very end, she got on a conference call Friday afternoon with reporters… and let loose!!
A reporter asked the singer if she were planning to leave her native Mississippi, now that she's also luckily signed to a record deal despite finishing second, and Renae indicated that, yes, she would be leaving for Los Angeles or another larger city.
However, when another reporter asked if the singer had been following her home stat's anti-LGBT controversy — and Renae said that she had not — is when the interesting stuff started.
The singer started discussing gay rights and same-sex marriage, admitting that it's not exactly something she's familiar with, despite showing tolerance.

What a ratings boom! A little too late though…
Simon Cowell, Barack Obama, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, and a whole host of others showed up for the series finale of American Idol on Thursday night, and that star power helped ensure a LOT of people watched the last episode ever of the impactful show!
While last season's finale was an all-time low for the music competition show, the star-studded appearances — and let's be honest, the idea that this was the last Idol ep EVER — ensured that last night's finale was up 76% in the 18-49 demographic, and up 61% in total viewers from the week before!!
In total, the show drew 12.94 million people in to watch the two-hour finale, which was the best ratings for a finale that Idol has gotten in three years.
It appears viewers didn't forget that nostalgia, either — and sent Idol off into the sunset the right way!
Did U watch last night?! What'd U think of the finale??
It's so hard to say goodbye. But we must.
The American Idol Farewell Season Finale took place in LA Thursday night, bringing all the nostalgia with past winners and contestants showing up on the red carpet.
J.Lo was in full diva mode, naturally, with her princess-inspired Elie Madi sparkling gown featuring a buoyant high-low hem that extended all the way down to the floor.
She's the queen of Idol and we don't care if she wasn't there from the very beginning!
Of course Carrie Underwood was total royalty herself in an embellished Yanina Couture number with sheer skirt that showed off her always enviable legs.
And Fantasia also stepped it up in a silver glittering gown with low neckline and leg slit. She seriously lived up to her name, looking like a fantasy and all!
