Looks like the Pan casting won't be stepping into the fire this time.
After drawing a heap of controversy for casting Rooney Mara as the American Indian character Tiger Lily, filmmakers have moved on with their next bit of casting- the lead.
So who will play the ageless Peter Pan? A virtual unknown named
And the controversy has emerged!
Yesterday we reported that Rooney Mara has been signed to play Tiger Lily in Joe Wright's upcoming film Pan alongside Hugh Jackman & Garrett Hedlund!
The movie has definitely piqued our interest and, unfortunately, the interest of others.
Well, people are SUPER unhappy that Rooney has been casted as Tiger Lily because she is the Native American character in Peter Pan!
While Rooney is an incredibly talented actress, she is clearly not Native American!
People have suggested that Joe should have casted an ethnic actress in the role, which is a VERY valid point.
But it also got us curious as to who else has played the iconic role, and it seems there have been quite a few!
Ch-ch-check out the other ladies who've played Tiger Lily …AFTER THE JUMP!!!
Hmmm…this is pretty innneresting!
Rooney Mara has, reportedly, been cast as Tiger Lily in the upcoming origin tale of Peter Pan, titled Pan!
The film also stars Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, aka the MAIN villain, and Garrett Hedlund as the infamous Hook!
Pan is going to be a "different take" on Peter's story and will follow the tale of an orphan boy who is taken, by magic obvi, to Neverland where he squares off against Blackbeard!
Sounds like fun to us!
We can't WAIT to see Hugh in the role of a villain, but if we're being honest, we can't quite get Rooney as Lisbeth Salander quite out of our heads…
What do U think of Rooney as Tiger Lily?

Angelina Jolie has been sitting on this amazing film for a while — and by sitting, we totally mean just keeping the amazing preview/trailer from us!
How DARE she wait all the way until today to keep us from the inspiring story of Louis Zamperini (Jack O’Connell), an Olympic runner who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during World War II. You know, because of the story and not just because Jack O'Connell and Garrett Hedlund are in it! (Garrett cannot be seen in the trailer, but you do hear his voice for a split second!)
Directing such a powerful film like this at 38 must feel so good!
Ch-ch-check it out (above)!
P.S. — Maybe she was putting the final touches on this when she couldn't go pick up a Valentine from a certain someone!
Move over, Dustin Hoffman! A new captain is in and he's eXXXtra hot!
Dreamy Garrett Hedlund has been offered the role of the deliciously villainous Hook for the upcoming flick, Pan!
Garrett beat out the likes of Boardwalk Empire's Jack Huston AND Perks of Being A Wallflower's Ezra Miller for the portrayal of a hunkier Hook in the new spin on the literary classic to be directed by Joe Wright.
Evil and seXXXy?! We're in!
The big screen, epic adventure will tell the story of an orphan who is taken to the magical Neverland, where he finds himself saving natives and at the forefront of a rebellion against some naughty pirates.
No doubt this is a major departure from the brooding, sweet Dean Moriarty in On The Road and the heroic Sam in Tron, but we have all the faith that he'll be wearing one less hand realllllllll well.
Come to think of it, we imagine Garrett could pretty much rock any look and leave us drooling! LOLz!
