Sheryl Crow Clarifies Her Statements About Taylor Swift's Scooter Braun Drama!

Sheryl Crow sets the record straight!

Sheryl Crow did not mean to make a “big stink” about Taylor Swift‘s drama with Scooter Braun.

As we reported, while appearing on Watch What Happens Live, the Soak Up The Sun musician commented on Braun’s acquisition of Swift’s master recordings through his $300 million purchase of Big Machine — Crow’s current label.

In response to a fan’s question, the 57-year-old said she didn’t “know what the big stink was” as it’s “not unusual for your masters to change hands like 9,000 times.”

After making headlines, the If It Makes You Happy songstress went on Twitter on Thursday to clarify her remarks.

In her message, Crow admitted she “chose the wrong word” — “stink” —  explaining:

“To those who thought I was downplaying @taylorswift13’s masters changing hands, I chose the wrong word. I should have said I don’t know what the situation is instead of the word stink which sounds extremely negative. I have total respect for Taylor & always wish the best for her.”

She continued:

“If you listen to the whole clip, I explain that I live with my head in a big hole, and don’t know the details…”

(In fact, she did tell host Andy Cohen, “I’m going to be honest with you. I live with my head in a big hole. I stay out of that world.” She later added, “… I’m kind of out of the loop. So I don’t really know.”)

She concluded:

“Don’t go for the clickbait. And stop pitting women against each other.”

Additionally, the singer-songwriter posted a video, which can be seen (below):

Back in July, Braun and Big Machine founder, Scott Borchetta, opened up to Billboard about their deal. However, the two men REFUSED to talk about Swift.

Borchetta told the publication they first discussed the sale “a few years back,” but things did not get “serious [until] last fall.” He dished:

“There was a conversation a few years back and it never really got off the ground, but it was fascinating to me even then. There were a lot of things we would throw back and forth — we ended up doing something together with Rascal Flatts and Justin Bieber — and then it got very serious last fall.”

As to what makes the label an attractive asset, Braun divulged:

“Scott runs an incredible company, and we’re trying to build an artist-first environment and — in a climate with a lot of players — get the leverage we need to help our creators go after their dreams. By combining what Scott had with what we had, we feel like we’re in a unique position to fight the good fight.”

Borchetta later added:

“Something we talked about in our very first conversation was, ‘How can we take all of these wonderful artists and executives and cut a wider swath through the noise out there?’ As we start building out, we’re going to completely re-create how we’re marketing our releases. Now that we’re in this digital space, how do we create those blockbuster weeks that we used to be able to do in a physical world? Just a few of the things we’ve touched on already are so exciting.'”
