Don’t accuse Meghan McCain of beating around the bush.
The fiery former co-host of The View always tells it like it is. And she very fiercely defends her family and herself from attacks online and in the media. So you can be sure when she gives an opinion, you know she really believes what she’s saying! And on Monday evening, one of those impactful moments popped up for the maven momma.

The 38-year-old used her DailyMail.com op-ed this week to rail against the increasingly popular weight loss drug Ozempic. Of course, that injectable shot has been a hot topic in Hollywood circles lately. On social media, fans have wondered whether Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards is potentially taking the drug after she recently re-sculpted her body. Other celeb names like Chelsea Handler and Elon Musk have been tossed out for their alleged use, too.
For McCain, the Ozempic commentary comes very shortly after she gave birth to her second kid. Last month, John McCain‘s beloved child welcomed daughter Clover into the world. She and husband Ben Domenech — who also share 2-year-old daughter Liberty — are busy and focused on raising the infant. And Meghan is also focused on losing the baby weight… but NOT with the help of Ozempic.
The longtime media personality kicked off her piece by writing:
“I just had a baby four weeks ago, and you wouldn’t believe what I’m hearing. Yes, I’m fielding all the usual questions: Is she sleeping? Am I sleeping? The answer — obviously — is ‘no.’ But then, I get hit with this: ‘Are you going on Ozempic?’ Excuse me? … In case you’re unaware, there is a craze sweeping the nation: a new ‘miracle’ drug. One injection, once a week, for a cool $1,000 a pop, and you can just melt the pounds away.”
The proud mom wasn’t going to stop there, though. And she very quickly made it very clear she does not want to take Ozempic for any reason whatsoever!
In fact, she called out those aforementioned three celebs — Handler, Musk, and Richards — by NAME in her criticism of the new weight loss catch-all:
“Chelsea Handler has publicly copped to taking ‘the shot’ but claims she didn’t realize she was on it. Elon Musk says he uses it. Kyle Richards, of Real Housewives fame, who recently flaunted newly emerged abs has denied taking it. But fellow reality TV star Jackie Goldschneider claimed ‘a lot’ of her fellow cast members are on it. Ozempic also seems to be the hottest thing in the media industry. So many of the men and women you see on TV every day are rumored to be using the drug.”
Yikes…
For Meghan, her concern is rising fast as more entertainment pros admit to taking the shot. According to her op-ed notes, nearly-countless friends, acquaintances, and industry connections have mentioned taking the shot:
“Now, I understand some people legitimately struggle with obesity and need Ozempic. But I am not one of those people. Which is why I have been really astonished by how many, from casual friends to industry acquaintances, have brought it up with me. I’m told ‘everyone is doing it,’ as if that was ever a compelling case. I hear ‘just take the shot,’ as it has become known in shorthand. I was even offered a black-market freebie by someone with ‘extra shots at home.'”
The Bad Republican author then drew a line in the sand. For the rest of her life, Meghan wrote, she will “refuse” to take Ozempic.
Citing her refusal to be part of the weight loss fad as a “moral issue,” she wrote:
“Well, let me make one thing very clear. I’m not taking it. I refuse. There’s a clear moral issue here. It’s hard to take a drug because swimsuit season is around the corner, while others need it to stay alive. Our culture has made incredible strides towards body-type acceptance over the past few decades. And this celebration of Ozempic threatens all of that. I am realistic about how long it takes to have your body feel normal again post-baby. So, don’t rush me!”
McCain wrapped things up in a flourish, too.

Citing her two young daughters at home, the Arizona-born star explained how she feels a “responsibility” to her kids to take a stand against what she sees is the promotion of unhealthy beauty standards and unsafe weight loss expectations:
“I have a responsibility to set an example for my daughters, who will one day face the same beauty standards. Their world will only be more challenging as social media seeps more deeply into the American mind. This is not the world I want for them and not the world I want for myself. … As for Ozempic, I would rather have a few extra pounds than shoot myself up with medicine. There ain’t nothing worth having that is easy to get. And that goes for my health and the health of my girls.”
