Bridget Jones's Baby Completely Bombs At The American Box Office -- We've Got All Of This Weekend's Totals Including A BIG Repeat Winner!

Well this is surely a surprise at the box office!!
Bridget Jones’s Baby completely bombed in the domestic box office this weekend, racking up just $8.2 million in America, even though it absolutely cleaned up worldwide and had a HUGE showing in the UK!

The flick, a sequel of 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary, took home $38.1 million globally and did a record-setting $11.3 million in the UK alone, but that wasn’t enough to transition to a must-see film for audiences here in America, where it REALLY disappointed.
In terms of domestic draw this weekend, it shuffled into third place behind Sully (which won the box office for the second straight week!), and Blair Witch, a horror film that took home $9.7 million — another disappointing opening weekend total.
Sully took in another $22 million this weekend, giving it a grand total through two weeks at a shade over $70 million domestically — and globally, it’s now nearing the $100 million mark at $93.9 million!
Meanwhile, Oliver Stone‘s Snowden opened in 2,000 theaters this weekend, too, and marked by far his lowest opening at right around $8 million in fourth place for the weekend.
Nevertheless, Universal‘s domestic distribution chief Nick Carpou, still wanted to look at the bright side of the Bridget Jones’s Baby bomb, saying of its international results:

“Opening No. 1 in 24 markets internationally is a really big deal and a record-setter in the U.K. Obviously globally there is interest in Bridget and a well-beloved character, going back to the book.”

Sure!
Sounds more like all in all it was a VERY tough weekend across the board for new releases!!
