This is one of the more on-brand things he’s ever done.
Shia LaBeouf may be more known for his battles with the law than he is for being an actor, but that doesn’t mean he’s ready to stop being an entertainer.
In an essay for the upcoming book Prison Ramen, the 29-year-old opens up about his five earliest arrests (his drunken arrest in Texas this past October happened after his chapter was completed).

Prison Ramen, a cookbook that includes real stories of prison life, is the brainchild of actor Clifton Collins Jr. and childhood friend and ex-con Gustavo “Goose” Alvarez.
The book contains pieces by stars like Shia and Slash, and a foreword by Samuel L. Jackson.
Shia’s recipe for ramen-inspired egg salad sandwiches is pretty lackluster — it’s just cooked ramen mixed with egg on bread — but his opinions on his numerous stints in jail are much more interesting:
“I have been incarcerated five times. The first time I was only nine years old. It was in Pacoima, California. I was arrested for stealing a pair of Nike Cortezes from a local shop and held for six hours.
The second time I was 11, in the city of Tujunga, California. I was arrested for stealing a Gameboy Pokémon from Kmart. That time, too, I was in a substation for about six hours.
The third time I was 20, in Van Nuys, California. I tried to stab my neighbor and spent two days in jail. While I was there, I at least understood that being in jail is not the move… It sucks ass.
The fourth time I was in Chicago and I wouldn’t leave Walgreen’s, so I was taken to spend the night in jail. For some reason, I had the best sleep ever.
The most recent time was 2014, when I was 28 and in New York City. I went to see the play Cabaret. I didn’t behave very well during the performance and ended up spending 25 hours or so behind bars.”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Shia actually learned his lesson since he was arrested for a sixth time just last month…
But still, at least he knew how to cook up some prison food this time around!
