Austin Harrouff committed one of the most shocking murders of the year when he fatally stabbed a Florida couple and tried to eat one victim’s face last week.
And no one seems more shocked than Austin’s father Wade Harrouff, who completely broke down on Dr. Phil as he apologized to the families of the victims on behalf of his son’s disturbing actions.
In a sneak peek at next Wednesday’s show, the Florida dentist describes his life as “the biggest nightmare,” revealing more bizarre details about his 19-year-old son’s “manic” behavior on the night of the killings.

Austin was eating with Wade and his daughter at Duffy’s Sports Grill but got angry and left.
The Florida State University student then made his way to his mother Mina‘s house, where he attempted to drink plain vegetable oil.
According to a spokesperson for The Dr. Phil Show, Austin’s mother forced him to mix the oil with Parmesan cheese before he scarfed it down and abruptly left. This eerie behavior, along with Austin claiming he was “immortal” and had “superpowers”, was enough for Mina to call 911 and alert police.
After leaving his mother’s house, it is believed that Austin made his way back to the restaurant before leaving for a second time to head back to his father’s house — and it was on that walk police say the student stabbed John Stevens and Michelle Mishcon to death in their garage.

Speaking to the TV doctor, Wade — who believes Austin is suffering from mental illness — explains that his son’s personality had completely changed two weeks before the killings, saying through tears:
“I’m deeply sorry for what my son did to those people. And I’ll apologize for him, because my own son would have never done that… He’s such a good person.”
Austin is still in critical but stable condition at Florida hospital, where police believe he has overdosed from the synthetic drug flakka.
