NYC Cronut Bakery Has A Severe WHAT Infestation?! Find Out Why Dominique Ansel Has Been Shut Down!

What is going on in New York City these days???
We knew rats and mice were all over the city’s streets and subways, but we thought they were kept out of food establishments. However, that does not appear to be the case!
At least it wasn’t the case at the O.G. cronut bakery called Dominique Ansel that was shut down on Friday by the New York Department of Health — after a customer filmed a mouse behind the counter!
Here’s what the Health Department said:

“The establishment was closed by the Department because of a severe mouse infestation that requires professional pest control services.”

Earlier this morning, before the closing, the bakery’s rep made it seem as if the establishment’s employees were confused how a mouse even got in there, and that the whole thing was a misunderstanding. In an email, they wrote:

“The team and our staff went through an entire deep cleaning session that lasted 7 whole hours with some of managers pulling a full 24 shift and Chef on his knees searching yesterday. They didn’t find anything and anticipate it may have come from the outside as we have a greenhouse and park with doors opened during the nicer weather days. As you guys know, cleanliness is something that is of utmost importance to us and in the close to three years we’ve been opened we have received nothing but A’s on our health inspects.”

But now that the store has officially been shut down, the store management is super upset! Especially with the customer who uploaded that video footage! Here’s what they said:

“This is such sad news. Due to the video footage, the DOH came with three inspectors today… any hole larger than the tip of a ballpoint pen is considered a violation. We were asked to re-cement the entire basement, which won’t allow us work. We should be reopened on Monday. I don’t think people realize the bigger ramifications of their actions and the harm it can bring to a small business. Our staff are heartbroken to have been such a target, but we will of course do our best to rise out strong.”

We certainly hope this was just an isolated incident, and it is possible the DOH were being a wee bit hard on them after that other vermin fiasco, but we don’t think it’s the person who recorded the video’s fault!
If anything – it was the mouse’s fault!
